After dropping the first set to a scrappy Newburyport team, the Generals took three in a row in a highly competitive match, winning 23-25, 25-23, 25-14, 25-23.
Junior Evelyn Easdon had 5 aces and 9 kills for the 10-5 Generals, with freshman Mia Flynn adding 8 kills and 26 digs. Junior setter Remi Manning had 16 assists and 3 kills of her own. Senior defensive specialist Vanessa Brown had 11 digs and served at 100% while senior libero Tori Belise had 28 digs.
Juliette Nadeau scored twice for North Reading as the Hornets defeated Hamilton-Wenham 2-1 on the road today. Jerlin Kaithamattam assisted on both goals, and Alyssa Crugnale made 11 saves in goal for North Reading.
The win moves the 4-2-1 Hornets into a tie for second place with Newburyport in the Kinney division.
