Ipswich Drops Opener
September 6, 2018 | by MAScores
Despite a season opening 3-0 loss to powerhouse Lynnfield, Ipswich volleyball coach Kerri O'Connor says the team left the match "with optimism and positivity." Early nerves led to many passing errors for the Tigers, but O'Connor was happy to see the fight in her team as the sidelines kept the energy high and each player battled to the very end.
The coach praised the play of Lauren Kennedy who kept the court alive with her encouraging attitude and had many great service runs, as well as the powerful middle hits of Abby Stanicek. Haley O’Connor was all over the floor making multiple digs and saves while Louisa Roesler stepped up as a strong libero who had very accurate passes.
"We are confident that we will continue to gel as a team as the days progress," said O'Connor. The Tigers travel to Georgetown on Friday.
